Rush onstage with Foo Fighters!

So maybe two of you are going to find this interesting, but it’s definitely the coolest music news I’ve heard in some time. A few nights ago at a Foo Fighters concert in Toronto, Taylor Hawkins, the Foos drummer finishes his drum solo and Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson from Rush come out on stage and proceed to rock out “YYZ” with Taylor.

If you know Rush, you know they don’t do things like this often, or ever really, so this is especially cool.

Check it out on YouTube…

Other news…

So maybe I shouldn’t be working on our site when I’m on cold medicine. I thought I was working in my local database and I inadvertently deleted a bunch of comments. Turns out I had the live database open. If none of that made any sense, it means that I accidentally deleted all comments going back to mid-January of this year. Unfortunately I can’t get any of them back :(

Maybe I should just go to bed now…

Not THAT Good……

A few weeks ago, I auditioned for, and won, a small part in a local community theatre production of Inherit The Wind. Four days ago, the director asked me if I would be interested in taking on a larger role, as one of the actors had to back out of the play. Last night, after auditioning another actress or two, he offered me the role of Rachel.

I’m not sure what the best part of the situation is: I love the character. I think the director is pulling amazing stuff out of the cast. Every member of this cast is warm and inviting. The rehearsal space is less than ten minutes from our house. I am absolutely ecstatic to have gotten this amazing opportunity.

Here’s where old neurosis steps in: WHAT IF I CAN’T PULL IT OFF?!

EEP! My stomach has been tied up in knots for about 24 hours now. I was reviewing lines at 5 o’clock this morning, while waiting for my opening employee to meet me. I can’t stop thinking about the play. Truthfully, most of my thoughts are happy thoughts, but one crazy doubting one sneaks in here and there.

So, I am inviting you all now, before I think that I am the most horrible “Rachel” ever. The show runs the first two weekends of May. You can reserve tickets right here!

P.S. My most sincere apologies to anyone that might have thought “good news” meant GOOD NEWS. I promise that a pregnant post will come only after the appropriate parties have been notified. It was kind of cute that Ben couldn’t wait for me to post the play news myself. :)

Good News

So I’m sitting here working on our site re-design and I get a text from Rusty with some very cool/good news. I’m pretty psyched, but I’ll let her tell you all about it when she gets home ;)

Sorry to tease you :)

Next up… Inherit The Wind!

After another amazing maternity-shopping day, I had my first read-through for my very next show. I get to play the “town floozy.” (the director’s words, not mine.) I have the pleasure of working with several people that I have worked with in my short, but illustrious theatre career. HI JIM, KASMIRA, & TOM!

The rehearsal tonight felt good, with lots of hugs and how-ya-doin’s. So far, at the end of Act I, I have one line: something about pickled apricots. I guess when you’re a floozy, who needs words, eh?

Plan on coming out to see this one. It’s going to be quite the spectacle with at least a billion actors involved! Watch this space for more information!

Time for another Redesign

Ah, it’s that time again. That time when I look at old(ish) code and designs and decide that I could do much better. If you’re trying to do the math, yes, this site has only been live for 13 months. That means I’m pushing a quarterly re-design, on average. I’m sorry, I just can’t help it. Personal projects like these are always sort of a testing ground to try out new things.

Geeks take note: The biggest reason for the re-design (the most rational one, anyway) is to take advantage of object-oriented programming. I’m going to re-code the site using object-oriented PHP instead of the procedural variety.

So I also can’t help re-designing – I’m doing that too :) Keep an eye out for it within the next few weeks.

Cheers!

Wow. What a Wonderful Day!

I started my day early, as I usually do on Thursdays. I opened my store at the bright and shiny hour of 5:30 am. I worked for a few hours, and then escaped! I ate an orange in the car on the way to Lou’s. Then the good stuff began.

We went to her Baby Doctor Appointment!

It was amazing, really. We got to hear the heartbeat, so fast. I got a bit teary, but so did she. (I know, I always get teary…) She is working through a midwife program at the suggestion of her neighbor, and what a great program! Even the air in the office was somehow more calm and peaceful. I’m sure am getting the inside scoop for the future.

I am not going to get all mushy, as I am apt to do. I am just going to state, for the record, that I feel totally honored and blessed to be involved with this whole thing. What a wild story to add to the collection. :)

Next, we went down to ole’ Kentucky to go maternity clothes shopping. I love the Gap Clearance Warehouse. Lissa got some jeans and a few shirts. She looks so cute in her elastic waistband pants and flowy tops. I got two pairs of jeans (non-maternity, thanks.) Ben got four GAP polo shirts. (for $10!) I also love picking out my husbands clothes. He looks good in green.

Finally, to round out the day, Lissa and I made a trip to the grocery store, made cupcakes, and read through lots of baby-related information. Whew! There is so much info, and I know we’re only at the tip of the iceberg. I can’t wait to get real words of wisdom from all the moms in our lives.

And now I’m home and sleepy and ready to snuggle. Let’s hope one Benjamin P. Lacy is willing to oblige. If he isn’t, I know a couple of puppies that will be. :)

Today…

… it was warm and sunny for a little while. All the snow has melted!

… I only wanted to eat oranges, so I ate 2 of them.

… I played a 12 minute game of Sudoku. Consider me addicted.

… I was in my fuzzy robe and slippers by 6:30 pm. Though I may get dressed again to go to the store. I have AMAZING coupons.

… my entire house smells like fermenting beer. Thanks boys. Next time, can you stink up Jason’s house?

… Ben destroyed my computer. It can no longer spell. (Actually, that was yesterday. He probably shouldn’t be left home alone anymore.)

*sigh* What a Monday.

:)
